I was teaching women the wrong thing about food


Hey Reader,

I have a confession to make.

For years I taught women to eat the way I was eating — mostly plant-based, whole foods, minimal animal protein. I believed in it completely. I wrote a whole cookbook about it.

And here's the thing — eating that way in my 20s and 30s? Probably fine. But in my 40s, in the thick of perimenopause, my body needed something completely different. And I had absolutely no idea.

I was working out consistently. And yet I couldn't build muscle no matter how hard I tried. I was hungry all the time — that deep, gnawing hunger that no amount of salad or lentils could touch. My body composition was shifting in the wrong direction and I couldn't explain it.

Then a functional medicine doctor asked me one question: what's your blood type? He looked at my results and told me straight — you need to start eating animal protein.

I was resistant. This went against everything I had been teaching. But my body was speaking so loudly I had no choice but to listen.

So I made the shift. Slowly at first. More chicken, more fish. Then goat, lamb. And now? Give me steak and eggs and I am a happy camper!

The changes were not subtle. My body composition shifted from high body fat to the body fat of an athlete — without changing how hard I was training. The constant hunger disappeared almost overnight. My workouts became stronger. I could finally build the muscle I had been chasing for years.

If that number sounds impossible, start here: get 20–30 grams of protein at breakfast tomorrow morning. A chicken omelette. Sardines on eggs. Greek yogurt with seeds. Just that one shift will change how you feel for the rest of the day — I promise you.
